Questions and answers

Quick answers to the questions we hear most.

What is the Emporium?

A long-standing tradition at South Park Family School. Donations are arranged in the gym like a store, and children "shop" for gifts for their loved ones. Volunteers wrap the gifts at check-out, in paper the children decorated, so they go home as true surprises.

When is it?

Emporium day:

Does it cost anything?

It's free for students, and accessible to all children at the school. Each child chooses five gifts while visiting with their class during the school day.

Can my child choose something for themselves?

Not during daytime shopping, which is only for gifts for other people. Items can't be held until after school. That keeps things fair for every class. Read how the day works.

What can I donate, and by when?

Last day to donate:

See what to bring and what to leave at home

Where is the Annex?

It's the building between the library and the staff parking lot, opposite the school garden.

How much time does volunteering take?

Shifts are generally two hours, and two hours makes a big difference. See the volunteer jobs.

What is the $1 sale?

After every class has shopped, remaining items are $1 each. You can pay with cash or card. The $1 shopping start time is 3:15.

What happens to leftover items?

Anything left over is donated.
